Frequently asked questions
Do I have to be a certified yoga teacher to take this course?
No, this course is open to anyone who is passionate about supporting first responders and wants to make an impact. While a background in yoga or teaching can be helpful, it is not required. The application process helps us determine if the Virtual Instructor School is the right fit for you or if you'd benefit more from our in-person training options.
Is this a self-paced course or do I have to complete it in a certain time frame?
While the course is structured with 9 modules released over a 13-week period, you have the flexibility to complete the coursework at your own pace within 6 months from the course beginning. This approach allows you to absorb the content progressively while accommodating your schedule and learning preferences. If you need additional time, you can get up to 6 additional months at $25/month.
What are the technology requirements for the course?
The course requires participants to be comfortable with basic technology, including the ability to upload practice teaching videos, navigate our trainee hub, and communicate effectively through online platforms. A reliable internet connection and access to a computer or tablet are essential.
How does the in-person training differ in terms of technology use?
The in-person training still involves some online coursework, but it is more limited compared to the Virtual Instructor School. You won't need to upload videos or engage in extensive online discussions. Instead, most of the learning and feedback will happen during the in-person sessions.
What if I'm not comfortable with technology?
If technology isn't your strong suit or you prefer a more hands-on learning environment, you might consider our in-person training option. While the in-person course does still involve some online coursework before and after the training, it doesn't require tasks like uploading practice teaching videos.
Why is it important to be comfortable with technology for this course?
The Virtual Instructor School is designed to be a comprehensive online learning experience. To fully benefit from the course, you'll need to engage with the content, participate in discussions, and submit assignments through our online platforms. Being at ease with technology will ensure you can focus on learning rather than on troubleshooting tech issues.
Is there any preparation to help me with the technology?
You will receive how-to videos on how to navigate the trainee hub, upload videos, and use other essential tools throughout the course. We encourage you to review this material thoroughly and reach out with any questions ASAP.
What if I start the course and find the technology too challenging?
We recommend carefully considering your comfort level with technology before enrolling in the course. If you find the technology too challenging after starting, please reach out to us within the first two weeks. You can find our refund policy above.
Can I complete the course without submitting videos?
Submitting practice teaching videos is a key component of the course. These videos allow us to provide personalized feedback on your teaching skills, which is crucial for your development as an instructor. If uploading videos is a concern, you may want to explore our in-person training options.
What kind of support is available if I have technical difficulties?
We are here to support you! Our team can assist with basic technical issues related to the course platforms. However, it's important that you feel comfortable with using technology, as this is an integral part of the online course experience.
What does VIS 1:1 coaching include?
Coaching can be added on for $250 or purchased initially through the VIS + 1:1 coaching course. This added option includes four 1:1 one-hour coaching sessions with a YFFR master trainer, and these coaching sessions are proven to increase the likelihood of successfully completing the course.
What is the coaching sessions policy for VIS + 1:1 Coaching?
VIS coaching sessions are non-refundable. Trainees must use their four coaching sessions within the 6 months they have to complete the training. If they opt in to the 6-month extension to complete the course and still want coaching, they must re-purchase them.
Do you offer a refund if I'm not satisfied with the course?
Yes, we offer a 14-day money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the Virtual Instructor School. To qualify for a refund, you must engage with the course material and submit a refund request within 14 days of the release of the first module. You will need to provide specific documentation showing your participation and explain why the course did not meet your expectations. For full details on our refund policy and to access the refund request form, please visit our Refund Policy Page.
Will I have ongoing access to the course materials after completion?
Absolutely! You will have complete access to the course materials for 6 months from the course start date. If you haven't completed the certification and joined our Instructor Network within this period, you will need to pay $25/month for up to 6 months of continued access. Once you complete the course, you must join the YFFR Instructor Network to have lifetime access to the course. If you certify but do not join the Instructor Network, you will not have access to the course materials. This policy is designed to protect our trademarked materials and honor the hard work put into developing the course.
Are there any CEU's through Yoga Alliance?
Yes, upon successful completion and certification as a Yoga For First Responders Instructor, you'll earn 65 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) accredited by Yoga Alliance. These CEUs can contribute to your professional development and maintenance of your Yoga Alliance certification. https://www.yogaalliance.org/YACEPPublicProfile?cepid=4527#/section=1
Can I connect with fellow students or instructors during and after the course?

Additionally, upon certification and joining the YFFR Instructor Network, you'll gain access to our instructor community page, fostering continuous learning, collaboration, and networking opportunities with certified YFFR Instructors beyond the course completion.
