Neurobiology of Trauma for First Responders: An Introduction
This course provides an overview of the psychological and physical toll of trauma on the first responder. Neurobiology of trauma is discussed as well as concepts of hypervigilance and the function of the autonomic nervous system. The course also discusses innovations in self-care for first responders as well as the critical need for resilience.

Leslie is a licensed clinical social worker and registered yoga teacher. She worked 31 years in local government in Arlington, Virginia providing oversight to a crisis intervention center, homeless outreach program, domestic violence/sexual assault initiative and range of mental health/criminal justice partnerships. She is in private practice providing therapy to adults and couples. She is also a law enforcement trainer focused on trauma-informed policing, officer self-care, meditation and mindfulness.
