Frequently asked questions

Who can attend Instructor School?

Instructor School is open to both civilians and first responders. You do not need to be a first responder, military member, or certified yoga teacher to attend.

Many participants come from yoga, healthcare, fitness, mental health, or public safety backgrounds, while others are brand new to yoga. The training is designed to meet you where you are and does not require prior yoga experience.

If you are a 200+ hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), the in-person Instructor School is still required to learn the YFFR protocol and teaching framework specific to first responder populations.

What’s included in tuition & how is the training structured?

Tuition for Instructor School is $1,750 USD, with payment plans available at checkout.

Your registration includes:
  • A 5-day, in-person Instructor School
  • Printed training manual and course materials
  • A YFFR t-shirt
  • Access to post-training certification requirements through YFFR University
  • The first year of Instructor Network membership upon certification

Instructor School is a hybrid model and includes:
• Foundations Training completed online within the course (Modules 1–12) prior to the in-person training
• 5 day In-person Instructor School
• Post-training online certification requirements completed after the in-person training

Participants become fully certified YFFR instructors after all requirements are completed and approved.

What does a typical training day look like?

Training days run from 7:30 AM–5:30 PM without exception. On Day 1, participants are required to arrive by 7:15 AM for check-in.

Each day includes a mix of classroom education on stress, trauma, and the nervous system; applied breathwork and functional movement; practice teaching; and group discussion focused on real-world implementation.

What is the Instructor Network & is it required?

The YFFR Instructor Network (IN) is YFFR’s licensing and support system for certified instructors. Membership is required to remain certified and actively teach using the YFFR name, protocol, and materials.

Instructor Network membership is included for the first year following certification. After the first year, annual membership is $297.

Membership includes continued licensing, ongoing instructor support, and full access to YFFR University, including on-demand classes and additional courses. Active membership is required to remain certified and teach using the YFFR protocol.

What if my plans change?

Tuition for in-person Instructor School is non-refundable once payment has been made.

If you are unable to attend, you may:
  • Apply your tuition to a future Instructor School (In-person or virtual), or
  • Transfer your tuition to another individual who will take your place, with approval.

If YFFR cancels an in-person Instructor School, you will have the option to receive a full refund or transfer your tuition to another training, including Virtual Instructor School.

Scholarships must be applied for and awarded prior to registration. Tuition is non-refundable and cannot be refunded or reallocated in order to apply toward a scholarship after registration.
